The Product Manager for Payroll is responsible for overseeing the development and enhancement of our payroll system tailored for mid- to large-sized businesses. This position’s focus will be on executing product updates and managing the product roadmap, ensuring that client needs are prioritized. This role requires a deep understanding of SaaS payroll products, along with experience in product ideation, design, and requirements detailing. Effective communication and relationship-building skills are essential as you collaborate across departments to ensure internal stakeholder buy-in and align product development with customer needs.

Requirements:

  • Define the roadmap for the payroll product, prioritizing client-centric features, and enhancements
  • Collaborate with the tax compliance team to ensure the product remains compliant with state and federal tax requirements
  • Work closely with engineers to detail product requirements and ensure accurate implementation
  • Communicate product changes to internal stakeholders and provide guidance on supporting customer-facing updates
  • Take ownership of the end-to-end success of the payroll product, from development to implementation
  • Evaluate competitor offerings and identify areas for improvement to meet end-user needs
  • Manage payroll integrations with third-party systems
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of PrimePay's existing customers and target market
  • Stay informed about industry trends in Human Capital Management (HCM) to inform product decisions
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop effective go-to-market strategies
  • Drive testing, research, and analysis to facilitate informed decision-making

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred (e.g. Business Administration, Computer Science)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Product Management, specifically in the payroll sector
  • Possesses a deep understanding of current trends, emerging technologies, and competitive dynamics within the payroll industry. Able to analyze market data, identify key trends, and translate insights into actionable strategies for product development and enhancement
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the specific needs and challenges faced by mid- to large-sized businesses in the payroll domain. Capable of leveraging this knowledge to tailor product features and functionalities to meet the diverse requirements of mid- to large-sized businesses effectively
  • Exhibits the capacity to consider the entire product lifecycle, from conception to retirement, when making strategic decisions. Able to anticipate potential challenges and opportunities at each stage and develop proactive plans to address them, ensuring the long-term success and sustainability of the product
  • Displays exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to foster positive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and external partners. Proficient in facilitating collaboration and consensus-building across diverse teams to drive alignment and achieve common goals
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) payroll solutions, including their architecture, capabilities, and limitations. Skilled in evaluating different SaaS platforms and determining their suitability for meeting specific business needs.
  • Demonstrates sound business judgment and analytical prowess, enabling informed decision-making in complex and dynamic environments. Capable of assessing risks, evaluating opportunities, and making data-driven recommendations to optimize product performance and market competitiveness
  • Exhibits persuasive communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at various levels of the organization. Proficient in articulating product vision, strategy, and value propositions to garner support and alignment, fostering a culture of collaboration and shared accountability
