The Vice President, Data and Engineering holds a pivotal role in the technology vision execution within the organization. They are responsible for orchestrating the entire software development lifecycle, from conception to delivery, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives. They are responsible for developing and managing data architecture, systems and processes to facilitate efficient data acquisitions, storage, integration and management.  This position will help drive the organization towards becoming more data-driven, facilitating informed decision-making and fostering innovation.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute comprehensive strategies for software engineering, aligning with overall business goals and technological advancements
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a large and diverse data and software engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence 
  • Establish and enforce rigorous standards for software development practices, emphasizing agility, scalability, security, and reliability
  • Drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance productivity, efficiency, and product quality
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including product management, design, QA, and operations, to deliver integrated solutions that exceed customer expectations
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy to meet current and future organizational needs
  • Design and manage data architecture, systems, and roadmap for data acquisition, storage, integration, and management
  • Utilize data warehouses, stores, and business intelligence systems to efficiently manage and distribute data
  • Establish data governance standards and policies to ensure data accuracy, reliability, and security

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred 
  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive experience in software engineering leadership roles and data management experience 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in strategic planning, organizational leadership, and change management within the software engineering domain
  • Expertise in advanced software development methodologies, such as Agile, DevOps, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)
  • Deep understanding of emerging technologies, including cloud computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and blockchain, with the ability to assess their impact on business strategy
  • Proven track record of building and scaling high-performance engineering teams, attracting top talent, fostering career growth, and promoting diversity and inclusion
  • Proven experience in data management and operations, demonstrating a track record of successfully designing and implementing data strategies
  • Strong understanding of the data governance principles and regulatory compliance, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations 
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies in data management and analysis, with the ability to evaluate and integrate innovative solutions
