PrimePay is the leading provider of work-tech solutions and services in the United States and we are seeking our next Senior Manager, Payroll Tax Services.  The Senior Manager, Payroll Tax Services will provide overall leadership and management to a team of Tax Associates, Team Leads and Program Managers responsible for the timely and accurate filing and remittance of payroll taxes and tax returns.  Your primary objective will be to ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll taxes, compliance with tax regulations, and efficient handling of tax-related inquiries from clients and internal stakeholders. You will lead a team of payroll tax professionals, providing guidance, training, and fostering a culture of excellence and client-centricity.  This job requires strong operational management skills including experience with high volume of transactions, automated system processing, firm deadlines, and process improvement. This is not a corporate tax role; it is managing a department of transactional processing associates.

The Senior Manager, Payroll Tax Services responsibilities include: 

  • Oversee and manage day-to-day tax functions in the areas of compliance and tax processing
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation and filing of federal, state, and local taxes for clients
  • Monitor and assess payroll tax operations for efficiency and effectiveness, identifying areas for improvement and implementing process enhancements
  • Oversee system controls and standards as they relate to tax to ensure timely and appropriate reporting and payments
  • Provide reporting and analysis to upper management
  • Work cooperatively with other departments to ensure client needs are met
  • Monitor payroll tax processing metrics and KPIs, using data-driven approaches to drive operational improvements and enhance service delivery
  • Develop and motivate staff
  • Ensure procedures and policies are in accordance with applicable law

Success will come if you have: 

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related business field from an accredited university (required)
  • Experience in high transaction deadline-oriented environment essential (example: backroom banking operations, credit card transaction processing background)
  • 3 - 5 years of prior payroll experience (preferred)
  • Payroll tax experience helpful
  • Supervisory Experience (preferred)
  • CPA certification or Enrolled Agent designation a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll and payroll tax data processing applications and their interaction
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to plan, design, and implement process improvements
  • Strong technology skills and experience with software applications
  • Proactively interact directly with clients in a professional and pleasant manner
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines with accuracy
